StartupCincy Week took place the week of October 7 through October 11 and our staff was out in full force – of course in collaboration with the rest of our ecosystem partners and fellow entrepreneurs down at Union Hall. For those of you who have never been, StartupCincy Week brings together all of the ecosystem players in a week-long celebration of everything startup – founder stories, investor stories, incubator stories, accelerator stories – and everything in between. Tracks at the 2019 week included:
- Ecosystem Building
- Funding
- Becoming an Entrepreneur
- Day in the Life
- Creatives
- Zebras vs Unicorns
- Future of the Workforce
With plenty of coffee and pastries to boot, the week kicked off in grand fair. Here are photos from some of the key sessions.

Rocket Scientist Square Table – Nerds Rule the World – The makers, the builders, the engineers often get overlooked in the startup space, but they are building the companies with more upside potential in terms of jobs and payback to the community. This session was a fireside chat with Pat Longo and Veelo Founder Joe Sprengard who shared their model for building these ventures out.
Funding Both Sides of the Table – Negotiating term sheets can be tricky – whether it is valuation, round size, board composition, or other terms, the issues require thought to balance investment requirements while preserving founder relationship post investment. This session hosted by Theresa Sedlack and David Willbrand (Thompson Hine) explored both entrepreneurial and investor perspectives on some of the most frequently negotiated terms.
