Alloy Development Co., Inc. (formerly HCDC, Inc.) seeks a full-time Director of Innovation Services to establish and cultivate services to growing technology oriented businesses in Hamilton County with a focus on second-stage companies with a goal of encouraging revenue growth and fostering innovation, stability, and job creation among the companies served. The Director is a senior position with primary responsibility for directing the Innovation Services Office and will be responsible for seeking opportunities to market services, recruit targeted businesses, and coordinate support to those businesses. Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs outreach and delivers presentations to promote Innovation Services programming and support to targeted Hamilton County companies, business leaders, public officials, and key members of the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem in order to
    identify potential participants.
  • Responsible for recruiting eligible businesses to utilize services and meeting participation goals for businesses in the second-stage focus area.
  • Coordinate delivery of services to innovative Hamilton County businesses of all sizes, including peer learning opportunities, workshops, public presentations and individualized strategic technical research.
  • Responsible for revenue generation and business development of Innovation Services by working with various collaborative partners, including Alloy Growth Lab, the Cincinnati start-up services community, REDI Cincinnati, local Small Business Development Centers (SBDC’s), Cincinnati Minority Business Collaborative, local jurisdictions, and other Hamilton County business and economic development stakeholders.
  • Enhance interactions with Growth Lab and Commercial Capital Programs to create follow on opportunities for innovative participants in these programs with Innovation Services.
  • Create programming that would link Growth Lab and Innovation Services clients.
  • Collects, maintains, reports, and promotes key program results using general and individual participant metrics.
  • Establish and maintain/enhance relationships with appropriate economic development organizations, financial institutions, business support organizations, community leaders, and other local resources.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of small business issues
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Some travel may be required
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, software and/or technology company.
  • Public Speaking experience preferred.
  • Passion for working with small businesses and entrepreneurs
 

Required Competencies

  • Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrating tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and a positive demeanor. Public speaking experience preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze, and assess credit risk. Able to interpret and understand financial statements, ratios, and various accounting issues and principles.
  • High level of judgement and decision making skills that allow for identifying areas of need, defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and determining possible solutions to meet needs.
  • Problem solving skills including identifying the root cause, envisioning future needs, and correcting/planning accordingly.
  • Computer skills and comfortability utilizing various technology including Microsoft Office Applications, Google Workspace
    Applications, and other web-based systems.
  • Time management skills including multitasking, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines for a wide variety of tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
    Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
 

Job Type: Full-time Exempt

Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 (DOQ)
