Alloy Business Center Client Veelo is Graduating, Moving to Woodlawn

One of our most successful companies is preparing to graduate from the incubation program and move to the Woodlawn area of Cincinnati, near the “Aerohub.” This makes sense since the company was named “Boeing Technology Supplier of the Year” in 2015 and continues to grow in the aerospace industry.

Veelo™, (formerly General Nano) manufactures a new class of lightweight, conductive, multifunctional materials that improve the Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) of next-generation air vehicles, including aircraft, rotorcraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), satellites, and missiles.

Today, Veelo works side-by-side with leading technologists at the Department of Defense, NASA, and global aerospace and defense companies to transition the Veelo™ product into real-world applications, including multifunctional carbon fiber composites, deicing and anti-icing systems, lightweight data cables, lightening strike protection, EMI shielding, and blackbody calibrators for advanced satellite imaging.

“Being here really allows you to focus on the business more than anything else,” says Joe Sprengard, Veelo President & CEO.

During its time here, Veelo expanded a number of times, eventually occupying two labs and an office. The company has created 11 jobs and shows no signs of slowing down. Its new location in Woodlawn consists of 17,000+ sq ft of space. Woodlawn is also one of the local communities served by a contract with the Hamilton County Economic Development Office (EDO) for economic development services. This exemplifies how our different departments can help businesses as they grow.
